Characteristics

The first Brazilian resort golf course was designed by two British experts: Peter Allis, winner of the Brazil Open in 1961, and Dave Thomas. The 18 holes are totally surrounded by Atlantic rain-forest. In 2007, the course was completely reconstructed under the supervision of Brazilian professional Rafael Navarro.

Totally new greens were added to 6 holes, while the other 12 were restored. The 11th hole, for instance, has got a new tee box which is now on the top of a 45 meter high hill that offers an amazing view of the course and the sea around Angra dos Reis. Another hole you cannot miss is the 8th, an uphill 148 yard par 3, since the player´s ball must carry the ruins of a 19th century aqueduct – it is extremely beautiful, but you must be careful otherwise your ball may get stymied behind one of the old pillars.

Frade golf course lies on a 17 million square meter estate which includes protected Atlantic rain-forest, the golf course, 161 apartments, 16 bungalows, 8 restaurants and 3 bars, a private beach, a swimming pool, a spa, tennis courts, movie theaters, shops, waterfalls and whatever else golf players and their families’ idea of fun might include.
