Characteristics

The Iguassu Falls Golf Club has been opened in 2015 and is designed by the American Erik Larsen, from Rec-Creation, selfowned enterprise he opened after nearly three decades with Arnold Palmer Design Company. Larsen has prepared a course of 7096 yards off the black tee, 6725 yards from the blue tee, 6025 yards off the white tee, 5287 yards from the red tee. As part of its purpose is to be a resort course, there is also the Beginners tee, 4888 yards long. The course is quite varied, since it has short, long, straight holes and doglegs, both uphill and downhill. In general, the fairways are quite wide, but there are several bunkers strategically placed to make the golfer think twice before giving the kick in several holes. Another feature are the small greens, which, at the same time, increase the need for precision in approaching strokes, avoiding the infamous "three putters", something hated by most golfers. The most difficult hole is the 12th, a par 4 of 495 yards off the Pro tee and 470 yards off the male tee, with the lake on the left side of the fairway. For those who like a challenge, the fourth hole - a par 5 of 570 yards from the black tee and 536 off the blue - will be enjoyable. The opening shot is easy because the fairway is quite wide, but the difficulty arises when arriving at the green, which is almost an island, surrounded by a lake. The difficulties are alleviated by shorter holes, such as 2nd, a 330-yard par 4 from the black tee and 304 yards from the blue, with large bunker on the left and three lakes and a stream close to the green. Depending on the chosen tee box, it either can be a true resort course as it can become quite a challenge. Apart from the golf course, the hotel also offers a complete leisure structure and sports area for golfers and their families. The access to the course is allowed to visitors; guests of the hotel have a discount for the green fee. Strategically located among the most important sites for tourism in the city, the hotel and the course are just 7 km far from the National Park of Iguaçu where the falls are situated.
