Characteristics

Le Golf National, located just a few kilometers away from central Versailles, was built to become the home of the Open de France, which took place there for the first time in 1991. Architect Hubert Chesneau created the 18-hole course Albatros with the aim to be able to receive great championships with ideal conditions for the players and spectators. The course has traits of a links course while demanding aggressive and bold on-target- playing due to the water hazards and bunkers. While Albatros is known for its superior condition and strategically demanding layout, the 18-hole Aigle Course offers a gratifying game for all levels of golfers thanks to the wide fairways, few bunkers and very good greens on softly undulating grounds. The third course at Le National, 9-hole course Oiselet, is ideal for training.

In 2018 the Ryder Cup will be held at Le Golf National on the Albatros course. That’s why Albatros has undergone a nine month massive renovation works period. This upgrading work campaign has seen a full renovation of drainage and irrigation systems, as well as the creation of a reservoir and renovation of lakes banks. All bunkers have been restored and sand renewed. Two of the greens have been modified with more pin position options, and the huge bunker between hole 4 and 5 has given way to much smaller bunkers and mounts from where spectators will command a view on both teams. Thanks to all these improvements, visitors and golfers will have a fantastic golf experience
